Nursery World Awards 2018

We are still in total shock and disbelief to announce that last night we were the first business to win a brand new award at the prestigious Nursery World Awards (the biggest awards in our sector).  We were one of three finalists shortlisted for the ‘Childminding Business of The Year’ award and are totally elated and overwhelmed to walk away with the winner’s trophy.

The glitzy event was held at The Brewery in London, full of early years professionals and some huge names from the education sector; including Penny Tassoni, Neil Leitch, Professor Jools Page and Nursery World Editor Liz Roberts, the inspirational Lisa Potts, as well as being presented with our award from Jane Comeau, the chair of PACEY. (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years.)

Our over-riding mission has always been to change the face of the childminding profession and take negative stereotypes of the profession and turn home-based childcare into a viable career and childcare option, and we hope we are doing that mission justice, not just through the care we provide and the environment we’ve created, but also through awards and national recognition like this in what can sometimes be an under-valued and under-appreciated sector; events like the Nursery World Awards, bring professionals from across the Early Years sector together to celebrate achievements and the sole reason we do what we do every day, for the children, and remind us of why we need to celebrate each other and the incredible work we are all doing, to develop and promote children’s outcomes across the country.
We truly feel so lucky to not only be part of such an inspirational evening with so many incredible early years professionals, but to also be recognised on such a level.
Being the first winners of this brand new award at such a prestigious ceremony for the Early Years sector is a truly amazing achievement for us and one we are completely overwhelmed with but nonetheless exceptionally proud.
This award truly means the world to us and we are in total shock at what an incredible 3 years it has been, never in our wildest dreams did we ever think that the home-based childcare setting Bridgit created in 2015, would reach such staggering heights, just merely through doing a job we love every single day.
Following a successful career in the private nursery sector for over 26 years, Bridgit decided to totally step out of her comfort zone by creating Pebbles Childcare from within her own home, welcoming in children and their families, later followed by Chloe and a larger cohort of children in order to facilitate the incredible demand we have experienced from day one to the present day, and this award truly is testament to Bridgit’s initial vision, hard work and determination to make home-based childcare a viable career and childcare option.

This incredible award and achievement truly means the world to us and we are so grateful to you all; our children and their families, our colleagues across the sector, and the readers of this blog, we truly wouldn’t be where we are today without you all.
Thank you.
